Sellaronda Ski Tour

The ski tour of four Dolomite passes

Sellaronda tour, skiing to the top of the Dolomites

Are you a true skiing enthusiast? Your CV can certainly not miss the legendary Sellaronda, the most famous ski tour in the Alps. It is a scenic route of about 40 km, without ever taking off your skis, without ever skiing the same run twice.

An adventure, always above 2,000 metres, where your gaze sweeps over horizons drawn by the Dolomites, now a World Natural Heritage site.

It is the tour of the four passes (Pordoi, Sella, Gardena and Campolongo) that crosses the Ladin valleys of Fassa (Trentino), Gardena (South Tyrol), Badia (South Tyrol) and Arabba (Veneto). A carousel of slopes of medium or advanced level, all connected by modern ski lifts. The route can be easily tackled in 5-6 hours, even by less experienced skiers, with the Dolomiti Superski ski pass.

An adventure, always above 2,000 metres, where your gaze sweeps over horizons drawn by the splendid Dolomites. From each valley around the rocky Sella massif you set off for the Sellaronda. The important thing is to start the tour no later than 10 a.m. For Val di Fassa the gateways are Canazei-Belvedere and Campitello-Col Rodella. You can take it in either direction, recognisable by the colour of the signs: orange for clockwise, green for anticlockwise.

Starting from Canazei, take the "Belvedere" gondola to "Pecol"; then continue with the Toé "gondola", which allows you to reach the starting point for both directions. Alternatively, from "Pecol" take the cable car up to "Col dei Rossi" at 2,382 metres, a wonderful observation point over Val di Fassa that can also be reached by cable car from Alba di Canazei. From here, descend to the top station of the "Toé" cableway to start the tour proper.

The Sellaronda tour also starts from Campitello; take the cable car up to "Col Rodella" and follow the green or orange signs from there.

Reach the last pass by 3.30 p.m. so as to return to Canazei or Campitello in time. In case of bad weather (heavy snow or wind), some lifts may close without notice.
