Vigo has been a member of the "Borghi più belli d'Italia" (Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages) club since 2017. From here, in winter, you can take a cable car up to the natural amphitheatre of Ciampedie (2000 m) to ski on the slopes of the Catinaccio ski area.
In summer, Vigo is the main gateway to Torri del Vajolet, Passo Principe, Antermoia and other spectacular destinations.
Vigo di Fassa
A family-friendly village
Vigo di Fassa (1382 m), since 2018 a hamlet of the municipality of San Giovanni di Fassa together with Pozza di Fassa, was once the administrative and religious heart of the entire Valley. The village is surmounted by the Catinaccio and Cima Undici (2507 m).
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday for the whole family, Vigo di Fassa fits the bill. In winter, experienced skiers can try their hand on the slopes of the Catinaccio ski area, while for a carefree day on the snow with the little ones, there is the Babypark del Ciampedìe (2000 m), a state-of-the-art playground surrounded by nature.
A modern cable car from the village centre will take you to Ciampedìe, a natural terrace offering picturesque views of the Dolomites. This is the starting point for a number of routes: easy excursions or challenging treks, all surrounded by lush mountain scenery.
Vigo is also known for its cultural attractions. It is home to the Comun General di Fassa and the Ladin Museum, a modern building which houses the ethnographic collections of the Ladin Cultural Institute, as well as the Monzoni Mineralogical Museum, home to one of the largest collections of Dolomite minerals.
In July 2017, Vigo di Fassa joined the club of "The most beautiful villages in Italy", thanks to its natural beauty and Ladin roots, as well as its enchanting hamlets, San Giovanni, Tamion and Vallonga.
