The Costalunga Pass lies on the slopes of the Latemar and at the foot of the Catinaccio natural amphitheatre, surmounted by the Roda di Vael. This pass, which marks the boundary between Trentino and South Tyrol (Alto Adige), is the starting point for many hikes and circular trails thanks to the ski lifts giving easy access to the ultra-modern ski area in winter. It is also known as the Carezza Pass thanks to the nearby Lake Carezza whose turquoise waters reflect the Latemar peaks.

A gem at the foot of the Latemar
Just 8 km from Vigo di Fassa you'll find the Costalunga Pass, an alpine pass separating Trentino from South Tyrol (Alto Adige), nestling amid the slopes of the Catinaccio and the Latemar.
A favourite destination for families, the Costalunga Pass gives you a host of exciting opportunities and activities all year round. In winter, there's plenty of fun to be had at the modern Carezza Ski Area, the ideal place for beginners thanks to the easy slopes; in summer, choose from long walks, horse riding, climbing ... or even golf on one of Europe's highest golf courses.
Once over the pass, you come to Lake Carezza, a jewel of the Dolomites lying just below the slopes of the Latemar, whose imposing peaks are reflected in the crystal-clear waters. Looking into the distance you'll notice the Grand Hotel Carezza, an imposing establishment which has hosted famous guests including Princess Sissi, Winston Churchill and Agatha Christie, who chose this location as the setting for her novels "Poirot" and "The Big Four".
