The Rifugio Stella Alpina Spiz Piaz is located at 1960 meters, in the beautiful basin of Gardeccia, at the foot of the majestic spires of Larséch and the imposing Catinaccio.
In addition to offering the unforgettable experience of an overnight stay at high altitude, beautiful views and clear mountain air, the refuge is an ideal starting point for many summer excursions in the Catinaccio group, from the Vajolet Towers to the Coronelle, from the Ciampedie plateau to the Cigolade, up to the Passo Principe and the magical heart-shaped Lake Antermoia. Recently renovated and also open in winter, the structure is run by the Riz family: the cheerfulness of Rosy, Filippo, Giulia, Fabio, Mattia, Gianni, Nicolò and Vittorio will really make you feel at home. The property offers cozy spaces and rooms, which can accommodate up to 50 people. In an atmosphere of friendship and sharing, you can sit at the table enjoying excellent traditional Ladin dishes, delicious novelties for all palates and delicious homemade desserts. The evenings close listening to the stories of those who live in these mountains every day, accompanied by a good herbal digestive.
How to get there
The mountain hut can be reached on foot from the Ciampedie (cable car + about 1 hour's walk), from Pian Pecei (chairlift + about 30 minutes' walk) or from the hamlet of Muncion (about 1 hour's walk; 45 minutes by mountain bike). In winter, you can also go snowshoeing or ski mountaineering.
