The ultra-hundred-year-old Torquato Taramelli in the wild Val Monzoni, known for its mineralogical heritage, is one of the few alpine resorts in Trentino to have fully preserved the original "cube" stone structure, typical of the first sat shelters (Società Alpinisti Tridentini).
The shelter has 16 beds and is open only in summer. During the First World War, it was used by the Austro-Hungarian army as a command post and field hospital for troops stationed at the Passo delle Selle. On the base of the shelter, to the left of the staircase, there is still a small bas-relief with the Red Cross symbol engraved in the center and "Edelweiss", emblem of the Alpine troops, on the two sides. The climb from Malga Monzoni (about 30 min.) is fully paid for by Nicola's cuisine, which will refresh you with genuine dishes, with real mountain flavours. Not to mention the sweets, especially those with chocolate, to which he even dedicates an entire week of delicacies.
Pets are not allowed inside the shelter.
