Along the Path of Legends that leads to Gardeccia, in the heart of the sumptuous Catinaccio in front of the Vajolet Towers, you find paradise at almost 2000 m altitude. Here only the sound of bells punctuates time.
In Malga Couler, run by Stefan and Ivana Depaul, together with their children Erik, Elia and Emil, you step out of the world and into the realm of nature. Thirty cows are present, always free to graze, and then calves, pigs, guinea pigs and a very nice pony. Milk, which is brought every day to the Mèlga de Fascia di Pera dairy, is particularly precious because grass and alpine flowers produce butter and fragrant cheeses. The barn is always open and allows you to witness live milking. The hut has been recently completely renovated and Ivana, with the new spaces, has been able to open a catering service offering the homemade dishes of her family tradition. Do not miss the platters of cured meats and cheeses and desserts to enjoy at any time of the day prepared with butter, yogurt and fresh jams, in the cozy indoor room or perhaps right on the terrace for a toast to her majesty the Marmolada.
How to get there
The mountain hut can be reached on foot from Ciampedie (cable car + about 50 minutes walk), from Pian Pecei (chairlift + about 20 minutes walk) or from the hamlet of Muncion (about 1 hour walk; shuttle service from Pozza to Muncion active from May to October; winter access road).
