Feast, complete with a parade in traditional Ladin costume, for the cattle comeback to the village after the summer spent in the alpine pastures at San Pellegrino Pass
The return of the cattle from the pastures is always a time for celebration and in Soraga the "Desmonteada" retains all the charm of an ancient ritual. This authentic event is not to be missed. It takes place along the main street of the village at 12:30 p.m. with a parade of cows, sheep, goats, donkeys and pigs, accompanied by the shepherds and dairymen who have looked after them all summer. The procession arrives in "Prà del Preve", the green area next to the church, where the festival starts at 9 a.m. with the opening of the organic market and a demonstration of cheese-making. From 10 a.m. the village comes alive with music and folk dancing, while at 10:30 a.m. in the square "Piaz de Bepo Roch" a farmer's aperitif is offered. At 12noon the kitchens spring into action to serve a lunch with authentic flavours, which accompanies the afternoon of music and folklore with a performance by the "Böhmische da Vich" (a reduced formation of the "Mùsega da Vich" brass band) and folk groups.
A total immersion in tradition, among the sounds, colours and scents of the mountains.
The "Desmonteada" is organized by the Soraga municipality with the association "Malghe e pascoli di Soraga".
The main road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
