Crowned by the peaks of the Langkofel (Sassolungo), Campitello has all the charm of a Dolomite village plus the amenities you'd expect from a major tourist centre.
The cable car takes you from the village up to the Col Rodella (2480 m): from here, in winter, you can reach the Col Rodella ski area and the Sellaronda, and in summer, discover a series of exciting excursions.
Campitello di Fassa
A window to the sky
A well-known tourist destination both in summer and in winter, the village of Campitello di Fassa (1450 m) still has its traditional wooden verandas and stairs, historic buildings, rustic "tobiè" (Ladin for "barns") and narrow twisting streets, but today also offers the hotels, bars, restaurants and shops typical of a modern, competitive tourist resort.
An added attraction is the fresh local dairy produce with all its delicious mountain aromas.
Campitello di Fassa was the first tourist and mountaineering resort in the Fassa Valley. It stands at the mouth of Val Duron, the valley named after the river that runs through the village. From Campitello di Fassa, you can admire and reach the Col Rodella, the "Balcony of the Dolomites", with its impressive rocky spires. On reaching this natural terrace, which is also a take-off area for paragliding and hang-gliding enthusiasts, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the entire valley.
Rising up around the village, you'll see the Sassolungo chain and the large massifs of Sas Pordoi and Col Pelous. From here, you can take a cable car over the picturesque hamlet of Pian, an ancient Ladin settlement and now a protected site, or head off to the Col Rodella - Belvedere Ski Area, part of the famous Sellaronda ski tour.
Campitello, a landmark for the whole Fassa Valley, is also home to Centro Ischia, where you can practise many sports. Here, you'll find an outdoor climbing wall (also used for international competitions) plus football, basketball, minigolf, cycle paths, outdoor gym trails and golf courses.
