Located on the slope of Piz Boè, the highest peak of the Sella Group at 3,152 metres, the Rifugio Capanna Piz Fassa offers one of the most captivating views of the Dolomites.
The Alpine garrison, with its unmistakable dark wood structure, can be reached exclusively on foot from the Sass Pordoi (ascent from the pass by cable car; Via Ferrata del Piz Boè - path no. 638) and has 22 beds. The bar and restaurant are always open with table service and a menu that broadly satisfies the tastes of hikers. The staff is attentive, helpful and friendly. Despite the altitude and supply difficulties, most of the dishes are prepared and cooked in shelters, including desserts.
In July it is the destination of the legendary Sky Race, the international mountain race.
