Quante forme può prendere il legno? Scoprilo in un facile percorso lungo il quale potrai incontrare una maestosa aquila, un branco di lupi e l’imponente Bregostana, la strega che popola boschi e leggende ladine. Notes: in July and August the botanic oasis turns into a colourful flower-buds’ party. The whole area is peppered with saxifrages, rhododendrons, gentians, bluebells, pennyworts, nigritelle and edelweiss, together with marvelous species of wild orchids, having subtle colours and graceful stems and flowers. Here you can spot the so called "Gimnadenia delle zanzare" (the name literally means "Gimnadenia of mosquitos" and is due to its shape) characterized by a vivid pink colour and the less common "Orchidea Globosa", which is pink too. You can visit the Buffaure Alpine Garden by your own (with the help of an illustrated guide, available at the lift ticket-office) or, as an alternative, you can take part to a naturalist guided excursion scheduled once a week. Stops: 1. "Prè de Cuz"; 2. The small rocks; 3. The small clearing of the larch struck by lightning; 4. Near the rocks; 5. The viewpoint of Maerins; 6. "Lastè de Buffaure"; 7. "La mandra de Pelicia"; 8. The corner of rhododendrons. The trail starts near the blueprint of the ski slope and winds towards Val San Nicolò, throughout a wide grassland dotted with conifers, and comes back to the departure point. Because of some steep and exposed stretches, we suggest you not to walk off the marked track. In some part you also have to cross a couloir. The path is suited for families with children (from 6 years); it is not suited for strollers.
