Alba Penìa Lorenz Vera

Alba - Penìa - Lorenz - Vera

Escursione invernale

At the foot of the "Dolèda" ridge, where witches are said to have gathered, lies Penìa. The last town in the Val di Fassa, almost perched on the slopes of the Marmolada, is rich in history and ancient traditions that are worth discovering.

Did you know that the heart of the Ladin Carnival beats in Penìa and Alba? Here, ancient rites have survived as if time had stood still, thanks to the "Gròp de la Mescrès de Delba e Penia" ("The Group of Masks of Alba and Penia"). For centuries, every year on 17 January, the feast day of Saint Anthony Abbot, the "deslea carnascèr" takes place - literally, the reins of the carnival are loosened. Two days later, on 19 January, for the feast of Saint Sebastian, the celebrations in Penìa reach their peak.

An easy loop walk, suitable for trekking strollers and baby carriers.
