A wonderful village of wood and stone, where the ancient Ladin language is still spoken. Since 2016 it has been among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.
Vigo (a district of San Giovanni di Fassa - Sèn Jan) is an enchanting alpine town with large wooden farmhouses and lovely churches, including the Pieve di San Giovanni with its pointed bell tower, surrounded by green meadows and imposing mountains. It is the starting point for many hikes in the mountains or skiing, thanks to the cable car that directly from the village allows you to reach in a few minutes the 1998 meters of Ciampedìe, a magnificent natural viewpoint on the Dolomites, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The extraordinary landscape, which ranges from the Catinaccio group to the Marmolada, has made Vigo one of the first tourist centres in the valley, active since the early 19th century. Today, thanks to its natural riches, its strong Ladin identity, its artistic and architectural treasures, it is included in the list of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.
STRENGTH
Intimate and collected atmosphere that you can breathe along one of the many walks that connect the centre of Vigo to the other hamlets of Valongia, Costa, Larcioné and Tamion.
