Peter Karp Band

Peter Karp Band

The 27th edition of Dolomiti Ski Jazz lands on the slopes of Buffaure in Pozza for the concert of Peter Karp and Mark Johnson: an overwhelming mix of blues, roots and slide guitar with an exceptional rhythm section

From 7 to 16 March, the "jazz track" crosses the valleys of Fassa and Fiemme with concerts on the terraces of the refuges, in clubs, theatres and squares. From Canazei to Cavalese, all the way to Cembra: the Dolomiti Ski Jazz proposes also this year as many as 25 concerts. Warm rhythms such as jazz, but also blues, funk and Latin music will create thrilling contrasts with the snow-covered scenery of the Dolomites. Artists from the international scene will perform in the evenings in the clubs and theatres of the villages, while during the day they will take to the mountains, on the terraces of the mountain huts, some of which can also be reached by non-skiers. The festival will move day after day from one slope to another, from the Belvedere ski area in Canazei to the Alpe Cermis in Cavalese.

Dolomiti Ski Jazz: Peter Karp Band. La Bolp Restaurant, Buffaure (Pozza). Wednesday, March 12, at 12noon

Straight from Nashville (USA), Peter Karp is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist and band leader. His style ranges between roots and blues genres, creating a unique mix that he defines as "Americana-Blues-Rock with Soul influences". Critically compared to John Hiatt and John Prine, he draws inspiration from artists such as Freddie King and Elmore James. Karp gained national attention through his collaboration with Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) on "The Turning Point" album and tour. His consecration as a musician and songwriter came with his Blind Pig Records debut, "Shadows and Cracks". Mark Johnson, guitarist originally from Atlanta (Georgia) and co-founder of the band "Delta Moon", is renowned for his traditional blues style and masterful use of slide guitar, perfect for Karp's music. After the passing of singer Tom Gray in 2021, he began a fruitful collaboration with Peter Karp. The rhythm section is provided by the Xeres brothers, who have been active on the blues scene for over twenty years. Having grown up in close contact with American and British blues artists, they absorbed the sound and spirit of American roots music from an early age.

Music band: Peter Karp (vocals and guitar), Marc Johnson (guitar), Marco Xeres (bass), Paolo Xeres (drums).

The concert is free of charge. The venue can only be reached on skis.

Event location: Restaurant La Bolp | Buffaure, Pozza di Fassa - Pera (San Giovanni di Fassa)
